Delete your account
last updated · May 1, 2026
You can delete your selfra account at any time. Deletion removes your profile, your messages, the memory derived from them, and every other piece of personal data we hold about you.
Two ways to do it: from inside the app, or by emailing us. Both lead to the same outcome.
1. Delete from inside the app
This is the fastest path and works on every platform.
- Open app.selfra.io (or the installed PWA / mobile app) and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete account at the bottom of the screen.
- Confirm the action. (We will ask once more so it's never an accident.)
2. Delete by email
If you cannot sign in, send a deletion request from the email address on your account to privacy@selfra.io with the subject line Delete my account.
We will verify ownership of the address (a confirmation link) and complete the deletion within seven (7) days. EU residents have 30 days under the GDPR; we aim for the seven-day window in practice.
3. Want a copy of your data first?
Before deleting, you can export everything we hold about you as a single JSON file (messages, memory, settings, capsules, events).
- In the app: Settings → Privacy → Export my data.
- Or by email to privacy@selfra.io with the subject Export my data.
4. What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we remove:
- Your profile (email, display name, settings).
- Every message you ever sent or received.
- Every event, mode classification, thread, chapter, capsule.
- All embeddings and derived summaries linked to your data.
- Your push notification tokens.
- Any pinned, fragile-zone, or forgotten markers you set.
Soft-delete window
Deleted accounts enter a 30-day quarantine. During this window:
- You can write to privacy@selfra.io from the original email and ask us to restore the account. We will, once, and only within the 30-day window.
- The Service no longer accepts logins for the account.
- The data is invisible to AI processing and to staff.
After the 30 days the data is removed from production systems. It is purged from encrypted backups within ninety (90) days as backups roll over.
What we keep, and why
We retain only what we are legally required to keep:
- Tax / financial records when applicable (e.g., subscription invoices), for the period required by Turkish and EU tax law.
- Records related to a legal dispute or regulatory investigation, for the duration of that matter.
- Anonymised aggregate metrics (e.g., total events processed) that cannot be linked back to you.
5. What happens to third-party services
When we delete your data, the deletion request is also propagated to the sub-processors that hold derived data:
- Clerk — your authentication record is deleted.
- OpenAI — past API request logs are kept by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted under their API data-handling policy. We do not retain copies of those API interactions on our side after deletion.
- Voyage AI — embedding requests are not retained by Voyage beyond what is needed to compute and return the embedding.
- Apple APNs / Google FCM — your device push token is deregistered.
6. Other things you might want
- Pause the account instead — you can sign out and stop using the app at any time without deleting. The data stays; you can come back.
- Forget one person or one topic— Settings → Privacy → Forget <name> / <topic>. This deletes everything we have about that entity without touching the rest of your memory.
- Forget specific messages — long-press a message and choose Forget.
- Pin a message permanently — long-press → Keep. Pinned items are immune to memory decay.
7. Questions
We'll never make this hard. If anything is unclear or you run into trouble, write to privacy@selfra.io and we will walk you through it.
